This was a super easy, quick knit-up. Having worked with this thick yarn before, I know it doesn't "sit" or "drape" very well. When knit exactly as written, ie, knitting until your work measures 9 inches in length before decreasing, you will end up with a slightly foot-long beanie that doesn't want to slouch. So I undid about 4 rows of stockinette and also lessened the decrease rows by skipping the "knit one row" between decrease rows after the first two decrease rows. In that way, I reduced the extra length for that typical beanie slouch (which was not happening easily anyway, given the thick yarn) and I reduced the risk of pointiness at the very top. All in all, a very satisfying project for a quick knit to get my needles warmed up.
