Might be my new favorite yarn

I really enjoyed working with this yarn, I am designing 2 different crochet blankets using it and am going to try knitting with it next, but I have a feeling it will be great for that as well. I love the feel of it - very soft while still having good stitch definition, easy to get even tension, and the color palette is beautiful as well. I have used Goose Down, Azul, Navy, Black and Cider so far, all are very nice in person and the black does not feel different from the other colors (I have noticed with some other yarns the darker colors especially black can feel more stiff, that is not the case here. The black is just as soft as the lighter colors). I do wish there was a bright white available though - the Goose Down color is more of an Ecru, which is a really nice off/white light beige color, but a bright white would be nice to have as an option too. I will definitely be using this yarn again, I can see it becoming a go-to stash yarn.

Cottino yarn

I absolutely love how soft this yarn is and it works up beautifully. In the process of making a light sweater.

No, It's Crochet
Great stitch definition but not as soft as you'd imagine.

I regularly review yarns on my Youtube channel and there is nothing like the excitement of a brand-new yarn release, and I had high hopes for this unique 50/50 cotton and wool blend. I was searching for that "holy grail" combination of cotton breathability and wool elasticity. To be completely honest: if I had felt this in the store, I likely wouldn't have purchased it. The initial "hand feel" was a bit of a letdown. However, after putting the Sedona colorway to the test with a 4mm hook, the performance told a much different story.

Pros
Stitch Definition: This is where the yarn truly shines. It provides some of the best stitch clarity I have seen in a new release this year.

Workability: Surprisingly high-quality construction; it didn't split or fight my hook at all.

Frogability: Very easy to work with and rip back if you happen to make a mistake.

Fiber Blend: On paper, the 50/50 wool and cotton blend is a modern, versatile choice for year-round crafting.

Value: Extremely competitive pricing for a new wool blend on the current market.

Cons
Initial Texture: It lacks that "wow" softness right off the skein. Don't let the slightly rough first impression in the store or mail scare you away too quickly, but it isn't buttery-soft.

Drape: This is a more structured yarn. If you are looking for a liquid-like, flowy hang, this blend might feel a bit too firm.

Color Selection: Since it is a new release, the palette is still growing. Sedona is the current standout, but more variety would be welcome.

Final Verdict
Don't judge this yarn solely by how it feels in the ball. While the drape is structured and the initial feel is underwhelming, the finished fabric and incredible stitch definition make it worth the effort. It held its shape well during the initial wash and is a fantastic choice for projects where you want your stitches to really pop.

Wanted to Love It

I wanted to Love this yarn so bad! I love that its made up of natural fibers. I do not crochet, or Tunisian crochet in plastic yarns. For the same reason as others have already mentioned the yarn splits as you are working it. I thought maybe it was my hook but it wasn't. The yarn starts to untwist. Still, I created a cute baby romper with Tunisian crochet @LittleKnottyRose on Instagram for those who want to see how it worked up. It was annoying that it would split but I eventually just figured out how to work with it. There is a nice softness to it, and a nice drape. I too had purchase 6 skeins so I will have to figure out how to use that yarn in other projects.

Splitting too much

I really wanted to love this yarn as I like to knit with cotton blends but I'm sadly disappointed. It is nice and soft and the drape is nice. However, I'm currently knitting a sweater with this yarn and continue to deal with continuous splitting that is a real pain. The strands do not hold together well. Trying to find the starting end from center pull results in ridiculous yarn barf. While knitting I encountered a section of the yarn where the strands were so separated that there was one long strand that was hanging from the yarn. I had to cut the yarn and start a new join to avoid the break. After working a couple rows of ribbing, I found two stray ends that came loose from what was already knitted. Will continue to knit my sweater as I don't want to waste the purchase but I don't intend to buy any more of this yarn.

Cottino yarn

I like Cottino, and have swatched with it, not sure what project I’ll make. It is a tiny bit thinner than I expected, a skinny DK, I think because there is no halo tothe fiber. I will make a small project with it rather than a sweater.
