Worst yarn ever

I have never had so much trouble with a yarn. The project was simple and straightforward but the yarn just wouldn’t hold tension. I started the sweater over three times then after finally calling it done I saw the entire piece ruined when I tried washing (by hand). Just threw it all out. Sad waste.

Gauge does not inspire confidence

The gauge on this pattern is 4" = 12sts by 26 rows, using a 4.5mm US 7 size needle and the exact yarn advertised in the kit. However, this yarn itself gives a gauge label of 16 stitches for the same size needle. There is no feasible way to use the 4.5mm needle advertised and still obtain a 4" for 12 stitch gauge widthwise, so you have to add 0.25x's extra stitches and edit the pattern yourself, or use different needles. I wouldn't mind customizing if I bought the pattern separate from other supplies, but when items are advertised in a kit I expect them to be reasonably sized... I wouldn't have bought these needles, that's for sure.

Hi Mallory - the gauge listed for this kit is based on the designer's blocked gauge, and it seems in this case that the designer may have a very loose gauge. This is part of the reason that we don't automatically include needles with the kit (you can check the box to purchase them) so you don't end up with a duplicate needle or one that won't help you match the gauge of the pattern.

Fast and fun

I am still in the process of knitting this piece. I got the green and it is a beautiful color. I have the front and back finished and they look like they will go together easily. It is a simple pattern but I love that once the ribbing is done I can just knit and not worry about keeping track of a pattern. Would love to make this in a nubby cotton yarn.

Velvetine Pullover

This sweater is perfect for my granddaughter. However, when I looked at the picture of the model in the sweater, the neck of the sweater is not shown, All you can see in each image is the models rather messy hair.. The neckline of the sweater is super important. I understand it's a crewneck, but there are crewnecks, and then there are crewnecks. I have never used this yarn, and all yarns knit up somewhat differently. Show us the neck please. This is a great sweater for college age girls, who want loose-fit, casual and comfortable clothes. Thanks for great yarns and a darn good website.) Show me the neck and I'll order the kit! )
