I’m am enjoying knitting the All Day Vest. It is easy to make and is coming out very nice. The Pound of Love used in this pattern is a wonderful yarn. It is soft and works up well. I know that when the vest is finished, I will love wearing it.
The All Day Vest is an adorable first sweater project for beginning knitters, and a fun and easy knit for those with a little more experience. The kit makes a nice gift (to yourself) or for someone else, and the ability to choose the color is a real bonus. This was the first time I had bought a kit for myself, but it surely won't be the last. I like the way this pattern is laid out: the knitter gets a brief overview of how the vest will be constructed; great information on gauge and how to achieve the correct gauge; and then the stitches that will be required to make the vest. The pattern is straightforward, and it is a good idea to read through the pattern in its entirety before knitting. The only thing I would have added is to note the vest is begun from the bottom with a k1,p1 ribbing with the garter stitch lapels at both sides. I always appreciate a schematic, too which this pattern does not have and while this is such a simple piece it might seem unnecessary; it would be beneficial for the beginning knitter to see. The Pound of Love is an absolute dream to knit (and I found it knits to the gauge suggested with the needle suggested.) The yarn is very soft and the color I choose, Sugar Cookie, oh, what a beautiful warm neutral! There are many lovely colors in Pound of Love and the hardest part about making this vest is what color to choose. The vest also comes in a wide range of sizes which is very much appreciated. Highly recommended.
I just finished the All Day Vest in Pound of Love (the muted gold color). It's a very easy pattern that would be good for a beginner. There is only sewing at the shoulders and pockets. I must admit that I had some trouble attaching the pockets. I used a crochet stitch, and it didn't really work too well. I blocked with steam to make the ribbing lie flat. It will be a nice over layer.
I choose a light pumpkin color for Fall and can not wait to finish my project. The pound of love yarn is perfect for this and the color is just beautiful.
I haven't started this project yet, but I'm really looking forward to it.
