Nice yarn/Horrible instructions

I am not new to crocheting, but I found the instructions very confusing. I even took them to my crafting group for assistance and the crocheting expert had problems. The yarn is great.

enjoyable easy pattern

I started with the small /medium pattern the gauge was correct, but when I started crocheting it was not correct. I upped my hook and starting with the large size and my gauge was better. I am enjoying crocheting this sweater.

Got the kit, love the yarn, and the bamboo hook. The pattern, however, is another story. I read through it a couple of times and was a bit confused, assumed it would make sense as I worked on it. I did my gauge sample and that was good, was right on with this using recommended hook. So I proceeded and did the back panel. About half way through it, am thinking this is not going to come close to the measurements. And it did not. I am a fairly experienced crocheter, have done lots of projects, know how to read a pattern, etc. So ended up frogging the whole back panel and starting over after experimenting with hook sizes, measurements, etc. I ended up going up a hook size and up 2 project sizes and got more yarn. So far it is working out and I anticipate it will be all good but I did have to make some changes to the pattern. It is taking me longer than I originally anticipated. If this one comes out as expected, I will likely make at least another one in different color(s) as I really do like the pattern.
