Read through the directions!

I saw this pattern and thought "it's so pretty!" I only looked at the first part (making sure that my gauge was correct and then away I went, making granny squares. After I had about 20 of the main color ones made, I finally read the directions and saw that I was going about it wrong. I then realized that I should be attaching them as I went! I'm going to be making this blanket again (the correct way), but in the meantime, I'm finishing this up, using the layout that came with the pattern and will be using the picot edging. I have learned my lesson - like cooking, you should read the pattern through before starting to make sure you are doing it correctly!
