Cute little strawberries increase in size down the length of this skirt to create a flowy, flouncy fabric at the bottom hem with plenty of walking room. A drawstring is woven through the top of the skirt to cinch the waistline for a custom fit. You might recognize these motifs as the classic “pineapple stitch”; however, when worked from the top down, they resemble strawberries. (Fun fact: A pineberry is a white strawberry that tastes like pineapple!)
43 sts x 5 rows = approximately 9 inches (23 cm) wide and 2.5 inches (6 cm) tall after blocking.
Each full berry repeat (which includes one strawberry and one column of Puffs) should measure approximately 3 inches (8 cm) wide and 2.5 inches (6 cm) tall. Note that the weight of your skirt will help your stitches relax and drape much better than your swatch will allow.

When choosing a size, reference circumference at top of skirt and choose a size that measures approximately 5 to 8 inches (13–20 cm) smaller than your hips when measured around the widest circumference.
For reference, the model shown in the photos is 5 feet, 4 inches (163 cm) tall with a 27-inch (69-cm) waist and 38-inch (97-cm) hips, wearing a size small where the top circumference of the skirt measures 8 inches (20 cm) smaller than the hips.
