Pattern Designer Information
Jennifer Renaud is a self-taught crafter, of a variety of different crafts and mediums. Her latest passion has been crocheting! Just over a year ago, we moved up to God's country where the winters can be really long. I needed something to do to pass the time and keep me warm, crocheting was just that "thing"! I found that making blankets for wedding gifts, also helped to keep me warm during the day.

Needed revision to achieve correct stitch count

This pattern is frustrating. The section “prepare base for body of bag” indicates the base should have 90 stitches around after the first round and 100 stitches around after the second round. However, as the pattern is written, the stitch count is not 90 after the first round is completed, which means that the second round won’t have 100 stitches if the pattern is followed. The first few times my base fell short of the stated stitch counts, I frogged my work and reworked the base, carefully counting stitches and rows. In none of these rework attempts did the pattern instructions result in 90 and 100 stitches around when the “prepared base for bag” section was complete. I had to do the math and add additional stitches to BOTH round one and round two to achieve 90 and 100 stitches around, respectively. I enjoy a good challenge and welcome the opportunity to grow my after working more complex projects, but this pattern has just been frustrating and I’m not sure I want to continue working it if the pattern for the body of the bag also needs impromptu revision. It’s a shame, because I can tell this will be a gorgeous bag if I can get the pattern to work.
