Very poor Instructions

I am not a beginner crocheter but I was not able to complete this project. The yarn was much too heavy for the pattern, it would not lay flat and all puckered up. The picture of the project did not appear to be made with the bulky yarn, it looked like it was made with a much lighter cotton yarn. I feel I wasted my money on this kit, a kit I’m unable to complete.

Horrible Pattern Instructions

Almost none of the instructions are correct based on looking at the picture. If you follow them, the blanket does not lay out flat at all. I started doing the pattern based on the picture instead and it's come out much better. Unfortunately, I cut the starting yarn following the original instructions and after correcting it, I have a very long tail. I'm not sure if I need all the yarn in the skein to finish the project, but if I do, I will probably have to buy another skein, which is upsetting.
