My Favorite Yarn

I love making afghans for friends and family. Homespun is my absolute go-to yarn for afghans. It's soft and warm, and because of bulky its size, projects work up quickly. I also use this yarn for the shawls that I make for our church's prayer shawl ministry. My only complaint is that Lion Brand keeps discontinuing colors and not coming out with anything new. At one time they would release new colors once or twice a year - beautiful, rich colors, and variegated patterns that made beautiful shawls. Color choices in Homespun are very limited now. I also make afghans for our church's graduating high school seniors, but I have had to start making some with other brands of yarn because Lion Brand no longer has Homespun in the solid colors that I need. Very frustrating.

Sooo soft and comforting

I am making what is probably my 6th Sequoia Shrug. The original yarn on the pattern is discontinued, so I am using Mandala Impressions. It was easy for me to find the center thread (I like to use pull skeins) and get it started. The feel of the yarn being pulled through my fingers is just delicious. It's so soft and warm, that I told the person I am making this sweater for not to expect it in a hurry; I am enjoying it so much that I don't want to rush it. As with all the Mandala yarn varieties, the colors are spectacular, changing the mood of the piece every few lines, and making working on it more fun. This yarn, the Impressions, is a bulky variety, and perfect for a garment you want to use for warmth. I love that it's machine wash/dry and so smooth to work with. I'm on the second skein and so far have not encountered any knots or troubled areas.

I love the green, love the hand. Hopefully the color card will be expanded. I see a number of cardies in the future. Price is reasonable for larger projects.
