Highland Tartan Plaid Throw (Crochet)
SKU: 100700
This throw looks like woven tartan, but it comes together in the simplest possible way. You crochet a soft sage background in half double crochet, working just one color per row and dropping in small chain spaces as you go. Those little spaces stack up into neat vertical channels — and once the crocheting is finished, you weave cream and rose yarn straight up through them to create the plaid.
No colorwork to manage mid-row, no carrying yarn across the back, no bobbins. Just easy rows, then the very satisfying weaving at the end where the whole design suddenly appears.
Even better, the fringe is built right into the weaving — the long tails of each woven strand become the tassels, so there is no separate fringe step. The sage, cream, and desert rose make it feel cozy all year — lovely for the holidays, but just as at home in February.
Happy crocheting!
