Pattern Designer Info
Jennifer Renaud is a self-taught crafter, of a variety of different crafts and mediums. Her latest passion has been crocheting! Just over a year ago, we moved up to God's country where the winters can be really long. I needed something to do to pass the time and keep me warm, crocheting was just that "thing"! I found that making blankets for wedding gifts, also helped to keep me warm during the day.

Amazing stitch definition w/breathable yarn!

So far so good! I have finished the main body of the cardigan, seamed the shoulders, and am now working on the sleeves. I love the stitch definition with this pattern and yarn combination! The yarn color I used was the default, powder, and the color swatch is accurate. I'll include photos but please remember these are lit in my living room (single lamp) and then with overhead light on (brighter ones).

I did modify the pattern to make it shorter and the sleeves longer for my mom. The instruction to make the sleeves longer in the pattern only calls for one round of increasing because the sleeves are set as mid/shorter in the pattern and I wanted them longer. Plus the circumference of the wrist had to be made smaller to fit her wrist instead of the elbow size. So I needed to start much smaller than the sleeve ribbing size listed and include more increases. So I made some edits as I went, keeping the stitch numbering in mind to ensure I kept the count in the right increment.

I am making a size medium so to make the sleeves reach the wrist I made some edits. I made the sleeve ribbing 33 rows to fit the increments between the sizes in the pattern and then the set up row included 49 stitches. I did the increase at row 12 like listed in the pattern (at each 8/9 due to the lesser number of stitches) and then repeated the pattern two times with one increase to hit 55 stitches, the third time to 61 stitches with two repeats of the pattern, and the fourth repeat with two repeats to hit 67 stitches by the time the sleeve was at 3/4 length (elbow-ish) length listed in the pattern.

It should come out to fit directly into the sleeve opening well!

Suvi summer cardigan

Enjoy working with cottino yarn, and the crochet pattern for the Suvi summer cardigan is perfect for a lighter weight sweater for the warm weather. Love the clear stitch definition and softness of the yarn. Planning to get more of cottino in other colors.
