Crochet Kit - Meara Fisherman Sweater

SKU: B70254

Dotted with lattice-work and traveling cables, the Meara Fisherman Sweater is an easy throw on in the colder months - perfect for the seashore or fishing off the pier.

Modified drop shoulders create a pullover roomy enough for layering, while bracelet-length ribbed sleeves keep the look simple and understated… The kind of perfectly flattering, perfectly useful sweater that never makes it back into your drawer.

Crisp cables climb from bottom to top, showcasing the thoughtful details and day-in-and-day-out cozy feel and comfortable ease of this snuggly turtleneck. Soft as a cloud against the skin but durable enough to weather any storm, this oversized pullover is the kind of sweater for which you ignore all the others in your closet, and the ideal companion for weekend adventures.

This sweater is quite a project! The first 5 rows are the hardest, but once you get going it's not too bad. It includes a stitch chart for the inner cables and pictures w/ explanations of each stitch which was neat and very appreciated. I ordered the xs/s size and ended up with more than a ball of yarn leftover?

The pattern can be a bit hard to follow (the big paragraphs are easy to get lost in) but after a while you start to memorize parts of it and it gets easier. I went up a couple hook sizes to make gague and ended up with a sweater that was 2 inches longer then the pattern, which is actually great for my long arms and torso.

My main complaint is that the instructions for the neckline were unclear. I believe its missing something along the line of "evenly distrubute the stitches around the neckline". I went on ravelry and found that many others had the same complaint and ended up creating their own versions of the ribbed neckline. I ended up slip stitching 2 together for each stitch of the neckline which created a crewneck. The instructions for the rib stitch could be a bit clearer as well, such as where to insert the hook when slip stitching back up the hdc.

Other than that it's a good pattern and it makes a beautiful sweater! I made mine in the colour "Blue Mist".
