Easy to memorize pat

I’m currently making the throw size of this blanket. The basic pattern is easy to memorize once you get into the rhythm of things. Initially, I had difficulty achieving gauge. I know on ravelry. Several people have had difficulty achieving gauge with Alexis’s patterns. I reached out to Two of Wands Facebook page for some advice, several people gave me tips that helped.
When I first followed the pattern, I chained 200 worked a few rows, but my blanket was super gigantic, even though I achieved gauge initially. I ripped it out did some math and reworked my chain count things looked good, but I felt I should be true to the pattern so I ripped it out again. This time I went down to a G hook and things seem to be working out well.
Just to know the first 2 to three rows are the hardest. It’s difficult to work into those tiny, single crochets, and and the first row of the Spike double crochet are sort of difficult to form. After that, it’s pretty much smooth sailing. I knit and crochet I feel crochet. I could recognize it by feel as well as by site so as because the pattern is easy to memorize, it moves rather quickly because you can feel where to place your stitches.
As of today, April 16, 2025 I have almost 4 inches completed.
