inc = increase(e)(s)(ing)

Increasing is the process of adding one or more stitches to a piece. Adding stitches to a knit or crochet piece makes it wider. For example, when you knit a sleeve, you increase stitches from the cuff to the shoulder.

For knit increases, please check the FAQ for information and examples of the following:

  1. Knit in the Front & Back of a Stitch (kfb)
  2. Increasing Between a Stitch (M1 or "make 1")
  3. The Yarn Over Increase (YO or "yarn over")
