Lion Brand« Wool-Ease« Thick & Quick«

GAUGE:

6 1/2 sc = 4 in. (10 cm).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

FPDC (front post double crochet) Yo, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around post of indicated st, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st behind the FPDC.
sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) (Insert hook in next st and draw up a loop) twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 st decreased.

NOTES:

1. Band is worked in the rnd with RS always facing, do not turn.
2. Hat is worked in rnds, turning at the end of every rnd.
3. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete the st.
4. Do not cut yarn between rnds, just carry unused color up inside of Hat.

Slouchy Stripe Hat Reviewed by suzanne Lavender on 2014-02-11 ****
This IS a quick & easy pattern. (I consider myself a moderate crocheter- pretty knowledgeable but not always coordinated.) Finished it in a few hours & will be less in the future.***I did need to work with the band. Be sure to chain loosely & practice finding the correct placement of stitches in the first row. (I wanted to put the half dc in the same chain that the dc went around, but after a while it became automatic.) The rest of the hat is easy. ***I think my finished hat was a little too stiff. I've started again with 2 strands of worsted weight (LB Vanna's Choice) & like the results so far. The pattern still looks good & drapes better.***Will try another type of bulky yarn too.***I do like the band pattern, the hat's very comfortable & fits well. Made Adult large.
