Twirly Tutu

Lion Brand® Imagine - Bonbons

GAUGE:

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

TUTU
Unfold the hank of A yarn.
This yarn is constructed like a tube. Gently open up the length, slide your hand through the tube and grasp the opposite end of yarn. Pull this end through to make a doubled thickness.
Waistband and Ties
Wind 2 colors of B yarns into 2 separate balls each. With 4 strands of B yarns (2 strands each of 2 different colors) held together and leaving long beginning yarn tails, join B strands with a slip stitch along one long side of doubled A length. Single crochet into A, then work next single crochet about 1 in. (2.5 cm) further along the long side of A. Continue in this way across the edge of A, so that the edge of A gathers as you work across to desired waistband length. Turn, ch 1, then single crochet into each stitch across. Fasten off, leaving long yarn tails.

FINISHING
Trim ends of yarn tails.

Twirly Tutu Reviewed by Roxanne on 2014-04-26 *
I could understand the instructions, still figured out how to make a tutu from the kit material., Here’s what I did:
Put my arms through the Imagine yarn tube and spread it out.
Folded it in half so that the cut ends of the tube were together (but not inside one another per the LB instructions). Be careful to get all the twists in the tube out as you fold.
With size K hook and 4 strands of BonBon (I had 4 different colors instead of 2 strands of 2 colors), chain 15” to use as a tie cord then
Look closely at the construction of the Imagine yarn tube. It has long thread loops with fuzz between. Along the top edges of the folded tube, sc through all thicknesses (4 layers) starting about 2 inches from the cut edges. SC in every third long loop on each layer of the tube catching 2 or 3 threads along the top of the edges, stopping about an inch or so from the fold in the tube.
Ended up with 54sts and 28”. Was aiming for 21.5”, so changed to Size J to sc back in the opposite direction and came out exactly right.
Turn and sc one more row (so the tail for the tie cord is on the opposite side), chain 15” and tie off. Weave in loose ends.
To finish, rolled the cut edges in and loosely hemmed it and tacked the top together.
Pull on the tube fabric to lengthen the skirt and fluff the layers of the tutu.
