Stained Glass Sweater

Lion Brand« Vanna's Glamour« - Bonbons

GAUGE:

18 sts + 26 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st - 1 st increased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:

1. Sweater is worked in 4 pieces, Back, Front, and 2 Sleeves with raglan armhole shaping.
2. Back and Front are shaped with increases worked along side edges. The increases are placed differently for Back and Front.
3. Left and Right Sleeves are shaped to match the raglan lines of the Back and Front.
4. Pieces are seamed along raglans, then sts are picked up for neckband.
5. Neckband is worked in the round on circular needles.
6. Back and Sleeves are worked in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with A.
7. Front is worked in St st and intarsia colorwork following a chart. Use a separate ball of yarn for each color. Do not carry unused colors(s) across WS. Twist yarns on WS to prevent holes. Note that there is a separate chart for each specific size.
8. When following charts, work from right to left on RS rows and from left to right on WS rows.
9. End with a WS row means that the last row you work should be a WS row, and the next row that you are ready to work will be a RS row.
10. When you see "- 12 sts" in the instructions, this lets you know how many sts you will have at the end of that specific row.
