Zig Zag Dress

Lion Brand® Heartland

GAUGE:

15 sts + 22 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st - 1 st increased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

PATTERN STITCH
Zig Zag Pattern (multiple of 16 sts)
Rnd 1:
*Yo, p6, p3tog, p6, yo, p1; rep from * around.
Rnd 2: Purl.
Rnds 3 and 4: Rep Rnds 1 and 2.

NOTES:

1. Skirt is worked in the rnd to make a large circle. The circle is worked in rnds beg at the outer edge using the longest circular needle.
2. Stitches are decreased to work towards the center of the circle. When the number of sts will no longer spread comfortably around the length of the circular needle, change to the next shorter needle.
3. Piece is divided to form armholes and back and front worked separately back and forth in rows.
