GAUGE:

16 sts + 26 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Color Stripe pattern.

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Child's Striped Cardi Reviewed by Laura on 2014-01-28 *****
This was my first project to knit that wasn't a very basic scarf or beanie.

I think the pattern was written well, but my newbie brain had to figure out instructions that are easy for more experienced knitters.

With my husband's logic, liberal use of how-to articles and You Tube videos, I was able to successfully make this sweater for a granddaughter.

And today, I start the pattern again, this time for a grandson. Thanks for a great pattern. It turned out darling, I think.
