Stocking and Mitten Ornaments

Lion Brand® Bonbons®

7 sts + 8 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between needles and placing it onto the left needle. Knit (or purl) this new stitch through the back loop – 1 st increased.

1. Each Stocking and Mitten is worked in one piece and seamed.
2. When you see 'work even' in the instructions, this means to continue on in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.

Stocking and Mitten Ornaments Reviewed by Maria Van Ulsen on 2015-12-09 *****
I found out at a breakfast meeting that I needed to take a Christmas ornament tomorrow to an open house. I knitted up a pair of these and they are really lovely.
