GAUGE: 13 stitches = 8 in. (20.5 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Chain 31.
Row 1: Single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, double crochet in next chain, *single crochet in next chain, double crochet in next chain; repeat from * across - 30 stitches in this row.
Row 2: Chain 1, turn, *single crochet in next double crochet, double crochet in next single crochet; repeat from * across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 9 in. (23 cm) from beginning. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through each stitch of last row and pull to gather. Knot securely. Use remaining tail or another length of yarn to sew side edges together for back seam.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. |

| Since I didn't have the yarn specified, I tried it with the suede yarn and it just didn't work. Will have to try again when I buy the right yarn!
