Dad Style Vertical Stripe Tie

Lion Brand® Microspun

GAUGE:

6 sts = about 1 in (2.5 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit into front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st -1 st increased.

TIE
Note: To make counting easier when casting on a large number of sts, tie a piece of contrast color yarn or insert a marker between groups of 50 sts.

With A, cast on 260 (300) sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K to last st, kfb.
Change to B.
Row 3: Knit.
Change to C.
Row 4: K to last st, kfb.
Row 5: Knit.
Change to A.
Row 6: K to last st, kfb.
Row 7: Knit.
Rows 8-11: Rep Rows 6 and 7.
Row 12: K to last 2 sts, k2tog.
Row 13: Knit.
Rows 14-19: Rep Rows 12 and 13.

FINISHING
Weave in ends. Dampen and block thoroughly to keep edges flat and even.

Truly an easy pattern. I knit this for my husband for valentine's day. It is a very quick pattern.
I do believe there is a mistake in the pattern. when you start to decrease there should be one extra decrease row and subsequent knit row. Of course I may have just made a mistake in reading the pattern. Nevertheless it is a very sharp tie!
