Woven His and Hers Scarves With One Warp
Lion Brand® LB Collection® Organic Wool - LB 1878
GAUGE: SETT
8
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SETT.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Loom is warped only once for weaving both Scarves. His Scarf is worked first, then Her Scarf is worked using same warp.
Warping for both Scarves: Following the loom instruction booklet, warp the loom with 43 lengths of A and 36 lengths of B, each 153 in. (388.5 cm) long. Warp the loom in the following color order: 3 A; 5 B; 8 A: 13 B; 21 A; 13 B; 8 A; 5 B; 3 A.

HIS SCARF
Spread the warp by weaving about an inch with scrap yarn.
Weave 66 in. (167.5 cm) with C used at about 10 picks (passes of the shuttle) per inch. Note: The extra woven length is to allow for take up and shrinkage.
Leave 6 in. (15 cm) unwoven, then proceed directly to weaving Her Scarf.
HER SCARF
Beginning 6 in. (15 cm) from the end of His Scarf, weave 6 picks of C, beating firmly.
Cut the yarn, leaving a 5 in. tail. Needle weave the ends under the last pick. It is easiest to do this in the neutral position.
Change the shed and insert the cardboard spacer. Change the shed again and weave 6 more picks as before, needleweaving in the tail.
Repeat to make a total of 28 spaced groups of 6 picks.
FINISHING
Remove the Scarves from the loom by untying the warp from the apron bar. Using a rotary cutter, and cutting against the metal ruler, cut the Scarves apart leaving a 4 1/2 in. (11.5 cm) fringe on His Scarf. Tie 4 strands together in an overhand knot across each end of each Scarf, ending with 1 bundle of 3.
Using the rotary cutter or scissors trim fringe on His Scarf to 4 in. (10 cm), fringe on Her Scarf to about 1/2 in. (1.5 cm). Gently hand wash the Scarves.
