The Boyfriend Scarf
Lion Brand® LB Collection® Organic Wool
GAUGE: SETT: 8 per in. (cm) (Sett is the spacing of warp ends in the heddle)
PICKS: 7 per in. (cm) (Picks are the woven weft yarns)
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: 1. When changing colors, always pass the shuttle under the previous weft to create a neat edge.
2. When weaving the weft, begin weaving with A on the left side of the loom and begin weaving with B on the right side of the loom.
3. Scrap yarn is used for weaving a header.

SCARF
Following the loom instruction booklet, warp your loom with 44 lengths of A and 21 lengths of B, each 85 in. (216 cm) long.
Begin with 2 lengths of A, then alternate 1 length of B with 2 lengths of A until all lengths have been threaded, warps should be centered on loom.
Wind scrap yarn onto a shuttle.
With scrap yarn, and following instruction booklet, weave for about 1 in. (2.5 cm) to make header and to spread warp out evenly.
Cut scrap yarn, leaving a 3 in. (7.5 cm) yarn tail.
Remove remaining scrap yarn from shuttle. Wind one shuttle with A and one with B.
Rows 1 and 2: With A, pass the shuttle across twice to make 2 picks.
Row 3: With B, pass the shuttle across once to make 1 pick.
Repeat Rows 1-3, until piece measures about 70 in. (178 cm) from beginning, ending with 2 rows of A.
FINISHING
Following instruction booklet, remove piece from loom. Remove the scrap yarn in the header.
Fringes
Working along one end of Scarf, gather first 6 strands into 2 groups of 3 strands each. Holding 3 strands in each hand, twist each group of 3 strands clockwise (to the right), until the strands begin to kink. Hold both twisted groups in same hand and allow groups to twist together in a counterclockwise direction (to the left). Knot strands about 2 in. (5 cm) from end of Scarf.
Repeat to make fringes along both ends of Scarf.
Trim fringe ends evenly. |
