Fair Isle Hat
Lion Brand® Superwash Merino Cashmere
GAUGE: 22 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) and Fair Isle pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES: 1. Hat in photograph was worked with Fair Isle patterns slightly askew, for a witty take on traditional Fair Isle. If you wish to make the Hat as shown, work Rnds 1-29 following Fair Isle Chart or written instructions for Fair Isle Pattern Rnds 1-29 for the body of the Hat. If you prefer to make a Hat with a more traditional look, follow Fair Isle Chart (Alternate) or written instructions for Fair Isle Pattern (Alternate) for the body of the Hat. Chart (or written instructions) for crown is the same for both Hats.
2. When working Fair Isle patterns, carry color not in use across WS of work.
3. Fair Isle patterns can be worked from written instructions or by following the Charts. When following Charts, work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) and follow every rnd on Chart from right to left.

| The pattern turned out wonderfully. Unfortunately, the hat is huge! And this is coming from someone with a rather large head. I am trying to shrink it. Hopefully it works, because this is really a lovely pattern.
