Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

MAPLE LEAVES
Make one each of A, B, C and D. Ch 4.
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch - 5 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 2 sc in sc, sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc- 7 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 3-5: Sc in sc across- 7 sc. Ch 2, turn.
Row 6: Hdc in sc, sl st in next sc, sc in sc, hdc in sc, sc in sc, sl st in sc, hdc in sc. Ch 2, turn.
Row 7: Hdc in hdc, sl st in sl st, sc in sc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next st, sc in sc, sl st in sl st, hdc in hdc.
Fasten off.

ASPEN LEAVES
Make one each of A, B, C, and D. Ch 3.
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd and third ch from hook - 4 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: 2 sc in sc, sc in 2 sc, 2 sc in sc- 6 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 3-6: Sc in sc across- 6 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 7: Sc2tog, sc in 2 sc, sc2tog- 4 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 8: Sc2tog twice - 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 9: Sc2tog.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Embroider straight st veins on leaves. Arrange leaves alternating shapes and colors, sew together. With a scrap of D, make side ties on first and last leaves approximately 6 inches (15 cm ) long.
Weave in ends.
