GAUGE: 19 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: kfb (knit into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle – you have increased 1 st.
MB (Make Bobble) (Yo, k1) 3 times in same st, turn; sl 1, p5, turn; sl 1, k5, turn; (p2tog) 3 times, turn; sk2p.
sk2p (slip-k2tog-pass slipped st over)
A double decrease worked as follows:
1. Insert right needle as if to knit, and slip the next st from the left needle to the right needle.
2. Knit the next 2 sts together.
3. With tip of left needle, lift the slipped st (the 2nd st on right needle) up and over the k2tog (first st on right needle) and off the needle – you have decreased 2 sts.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog – 1 st decreased.
PATTERN STITCHES
K1, p1 Rib (over an even number of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K1, p1 Rib.

NOTES: 1.Scrubby is worked flat, folded in half and seamed. Bobbles are worked on one half of Scrubby.
2.Soap Pocket is worked flat, folded along fold lines and seamed.

SCRUBBY
Cast 34 sts.
Work in K1, p1 Rib until piece measures about 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) from beg.
Next Row (RS): K3, kfb in next st, *k2, kfb in next st; rep from * to last 3 sts, k3 – 44 sts at the end of this row.
Purl one row.
Begin Bobble pattern
Row 1: K1, (MB, k3) 5 times, k to end of row.
Row 2: Purl, purling into back loops of Bobbles.
Row 3: K3, (MB, k3) 4 times, k to end of row.
Row 4: Rep Row 2.
Rep Rows 1-4 five more times.
Shape Top
Row 1: K1, ssk, k2, (MB, k3) 3 times, k3, k2tog, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 – 40 sts at the end of this row.
Row 2: Purl, purling into back loops of bobbles.
Row 3: K1, ssk, k3, (MB, k3) 2 times, k4, k2tog, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 – 36 sts at the end of this row.
Row 4: Purl, purling into back loops of bobbles.
Row 5: K1, ssk, k13, k2tog, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 – 32 sts at the end of this row.
Row 6: Purl.
Row 7: K1, ssk, k11, k2tog, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 – 28 sts at the end of this row.
Row 8: P14, then bring needles together so that the RS is facing out (the WS of each half of Scrubby is tog).
With a spare needle, work 3-Needle Bind Off as follows:
Hold in one hand 2 needles with half of Scrubby sts on each. With spare needle, knit tog 1 st from each needle, *knit tog 1 st from each needle, pass first st worked over 2nd to bind off, rep from * across. Cut working yarn, leaving a long tail, and pull through last st to secure.
FINISHING
Using long yarn tail, seam Scrubby. Weave in ends.
SOAP POCKET
Cast on 17 sts.
Row 1: K1, purl to last st, k1.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows until piece measures about 3 in. (7.5 cm) from beg, end with a Row 2.
Purl 2 rows (for fold line at bottom of Pocket).
Row 1: K1, purl to last st, k1.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows until piece measures about 7 in. (18 cm) from beg, end with a Row 2.
Purl 2 rows (for fold line at top of Pocket).
Shape Flap
Work in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beg. Bind off.
FINISHING
Handle (I-cord)
Work with 2 double pointed needles only and cast on 3 sts. Knit the 3 sts. Do not turn work. *Slide sts to other end of needle and knit them, pulling yarn tightly across the back of the work, (do not turn work); rep from * until cord measures about 4 in. (10 cm) long. Bind off.
Fold Pocket along both fold lines. Working through all thicknesses, seam sides. Sew ends of Handle to fold at top of flap.
Weave in ends.
