Garter Stitch Hat
Lion Brand® Hometown USA®
GAUGE:
9 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit all stitches in every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
HAT
Cast on 46 stitches.
Work in Garter stitch (knit all stitches in every row) until piece measures about 11 1/2 in. (29 cm) from beginning. Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
FINISHING
Thread yarn tail into blunt needle, then in and out along bound-off edge. Pull to gather for top of Hat. Knot securely, then sew seam. Weave in yarn ends.
Garter Stitch Hat Reviewed by Carol Utley on 2012-05-12
I am a beginning knitter and successfully made this hat for my friend's birthday. She loves it and wears it daily to walk her dog in Winter. It's one of my favorite projects. Thanks...
