Sequoia Shrug
Lion Brand® Tweed Stripes®
GAUGE: 12 sc + 16 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Large hook is used to create an open fabric that will easily stretch to fit a range of sizes.

SHRUG Ch 127. Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 126 sts at the end of this row. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across. Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 28 in. (71 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING Fold piece in half to measure 21 x 28 in. (53.5 x 71 cm). Place markers on each of the 21 in. (53.5 cm) sides, 7 in. (18 cm) below fold for armholes. Seam sides from markers down to lower edge. |

| This is a really easy pattern. When I was well into making the shrug I read the reviews and they really scared me (especially some of the photos). Once the shrug was made I took some time to arrange it--pulling and shaping the front, especially around the "collar" and then the back to lay the way I wanted it to lay. I used a wooden shawl clip (a stick with a circle you put through the layers at the front. I think it came out great. I teach crochet and just wearing this one item got me 2 new students and a whole bushel full of compliments.
