GAUGE: 16 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) before felting with one strand of A.
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO THIS PROJECT.
The above gauge is provided as a reference - the felting process will affect the finished size.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: 1. Due to the nature of the felting process, the size of your finished piece can vary.
2. Embroidery is worked after piece has been felted.

BANNER
With A, cast on 35 sts.
Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures about 100 in. (254 cm) from beginning. Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
Felting
Wash piece by machine on a hot wash/cold rinse cycle with detergent and several pieces of clothing to agitate. Pull into shape and allow piece to dry completely.
Embroidery
With disappearing marker, write 'Love' three times, centered across Banner.
With B and blunt needle, embroider outline st or back st over marked lines. |
