GAUGE:

13 sc + 15 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc 2 sts together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.

NOTES:

1. Hat is worked in continuous rounds; do not join and do not turn at beg of rnds.
2. Hat is worked from tip downwards. Add additional rnds or additional increases to make a larger hat.

Holiday Santa Hat Reviewed by Christine Taylor on 2012-01-03 *****
I made all my grandkids this hat for Christmas, my eldest granddaughter wore her's all the time. It's an easy pattern to follow for a beginner, however the red was hard to visual the stitches, I had to use a lot of light while doing this.
