Felted Leaves Table Runner

Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool®

GAUGE:

13 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm) before felting. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Picot Ch 4, sl st in 4th ch from hook.

NOTES:

1. Leaves #1 and #2 are worked in continuous rnds; do not join and do not turn at beg of rnds. A marker is used to indicate the beg of rnd. Move marker up as each rnd is completed.
2. Leaf #3 is worked back and forth in rows.
3. Completed Leaves are lightly felted by hand.
4. Instructions are for a 40 in. (101.5 cm) long Runner. Materials are sufficient to make additional Leaves if you wish to make a longer Runner.

Felting
Fill sink with hot water and small amount of liquid soap (hand or dish soap or even shampoo will work). Wearing rubber gloves, submerge Leaves in soapy water. Rub surface of knit fabric, working over entire surface until sts begin to lose their definition. Rinse gently to remove soap. Allow to dry.

With C, embroider straight st veins on Leaves. With sewing needle and thread, sew Leaves together as desired to make Runner.
