Cloud White Lace Scarf
Lion Brand® LB Collection® Silk Mohair
GAUGE: 24 sts + 30 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: kfb (knit in front and back) Knit next st without removing it from left needle, then k through back of same st - 1 st increased.
skp Slip 1 st as if to knit, knit 1, pass slip st over knit st - 1 st decreased.
PATTERN STITCH
Notes:
1. Zigzag Lace pattern can be worked from row by row instructions OR from chart.
2. A yarn over (yo) creates a new loop on your needle and is worked by wrapping the yarn around your right hand needle. Do not use an existing stitch to make a yarn over. The finished yarn over will leave an open space (like an eyelet) in your knitting-that is part of this design.
Zigzag Lace (multiple of 6 sts + 1)
Row 1 (RS): *Skp, k2, yo, k2; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: Purl all sts across the row.
Rows 3-6: Rep Rows 1 and 2.
Row 7: K3, *yo, k2, k2tog, k2; rep from * to last 4 sts, yo, k2, k2tog.
Row 8: Purl all sts across the row.
Rows 9-12: Rep Rows 7 and 8.
Rep Rows 1-12 for Zigzag Lace pattern. |
NOTES: 1. Scarf is worked with a Garter st border at each end and along each side of lace sections.
2. After working the first end of Scarf, sts are decreased to work the center section, then increased again to work the remaining end of Scarf.
3. Center section of Scarf is worked entirely in Garter st.
4. At one end of Scarf, sts are divided and then worked separately to create 2 slits, through which opposite end of Scarf can be threaded.

| Cloud White Lace Scarf Reviewed by Mrs Marie Raffio on 2011-03-23 |

| This would be a great project for an intermediate knitter, BUT the pattern as written is inaccurate and lacks steps of instruction starting with the slits and ending with errors in creating the second end lace pattern. While I was able to execute the slits, I was disappointed about how much INFERENCE was needed to do so. Also, The second end lace pattern as written does not produce the same effect as the first end.
