CADDY
With A, cast on 48 sts.
Front
Rows 1-5: Beginning with a purl row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS).
Rows 6-9: Change to B, and continue in St st as established.
Rows 10-16: Change to C, and continue in St st.
Back
Rows 17-23: With C work in Garter st (k every row).
Rows 24-27: Change to B and continue in Garter st.
Rows 28-33: Change to A and continue in Garter st.
Rows 34-47: Change to D and continue in Garter st.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Fold Caddy along Row 17, with RS of St st front section facing. Seam sides of front to back. Divide width of Caddy into 8 equal sections. Working through both thicknesses, sew vertically along each section to form pockets.
Ties
Cut 2 strands of C about 10 in. (25.5 cm) long. With RS of Caddy facing, thread one strand through left edge of Caddy near top of 'A' section. Fold tie in half and knot ends together. With WS of Caddy facing, thread second tie through back of Caddy, about 3 in. (7.5 cm) inside left edge, (near top of 'A' section). Knot as for first tie.
Weave in ends.

I made this, and it looks cute. But it is not very practical. I have a 2 year old, and I have crayons for "on the go" in a little tin.
