Simple Crochet Shrug
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 8 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: Large hook is used to create an open fabric that will easily stretch to fit a range of sizes.
Stitch markers should be of the split-ring variety.

SHRUG
Ch 85.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 84 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each st across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 38 in. (96.5 cm) from beginning.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half to measure 21 x 38 in. (53.5 x 96.5 cm).
Place markers on each of the 21 in. (53.5 cm) sides, 7 in. (18 cm) below fold for armholes. Seam sides from markers down to lower edge.
Weave in ends.

| Great pattern! I am 5'9 and made the pattern exactly as written except (1) I started and finished each row with a full sc, rather than just through one loop, and (2) I am adding a chunky button to the front so it will stay closed when moving around. Overall, I love the pattern. The homespun is beautiful, but a little shiny for my taste. As everyone has said, it is tricky to work with at first
