First Petal
With A, ch 10. *Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, sl st in last ch; working along opposite side of foundation ch, ch 2, sl st in same ch as last sl st, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, sl st in next ch.
Do not fasten off. Ch 10 for next petal and repeat from * until 6 petals have been made. Fasten off.

NOTES:

Materials are sufficient to make multiple Poinsettias.

POINSETTIA
First Petal

With A, ch 10.
*Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, sl st in last ch; working along opposite side of foundation ch, ch 2, sl st in same ch as last sl st, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, sl st in next ch.
Fasten off. Ch 10 for next petal and repeat from * until 6 petals have been made. Fasten off.

LEAF
With B, work as for First Petal.

FINISHING
Sew petals together at center to form Poinsettia. With C, embroider several French knots in center of Poinsettia. Sew Leaf to Poinsettia. Weave in ends.

Lovely pattern, but not quite accurate. In nature, flowers almost always have an odd number of petals. I googled poinsettias, just to be sure. Most images I found had seven large petals, with five smaller inner petals. Flowers always look better if made with an odd number of petals. Otherwise, I really like this one. I am making several with a glitter yarn, to use on a scarf.
