GAUGE: 7 V-sts + 10 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | V-st (V-stitch) (Dc, ch 2, dc) in indicated st.

COWL
Note: Cowl is worked flat and then seamed, so that the pattern sts will flow across the width of the piece.
Ch 89.
Row 1: (Dc, ch 2, dc) in 6th ch from hook, *sk next 2 ch, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch (V-st made); rep from * across to last 2 ch, sk next ch, dc in last ch - 28 V-sts at the end of this row.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn, V-st in each ch-2 sp across, dc in top of turning ch.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm) from beginning.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew ends together to make a ring. Weave in ends.
