GAUGE: 12 dc + 9 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Fasten off old color.
COLOR SEQUENCE
Work 1 rnd each of *A, B, C, D, E and F; rep from * as needed.

BAG
Beg at bottom of bag, with A, ch 4; join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 8 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch. Change to B.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in each dc around; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 16 dc at the end of this rnd. Change to C.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, *dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of top of beg ch – 24 dc at the end of this rnd. Change to D.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, *dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of top of beg ch – 32 dc. Change to E.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, *dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, place a marker in last dc made; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of top of beg ch – 40 dc. Change to F. Continue to change color every rnd as in Color Sequence.
Rnds 6-12: Ch 3, *dc in each dc to next marked dc, 2 dc in marked dc, move marker to last dc made; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 96 dc at the end of Rnd 12.
Rnd 13: Ch 3, dc in each dc around; join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rep last Rnd until piece measures about 21 in. (53.5 cm) from beg. Change to A.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, sc in each dc around; join with sl st in first sc.
Next Rnd: Ch 5, sk first 2 sc, dc in next sc, *ch 2, sk next 2 sc, dc in next sc; rep from * around to last 3 sc, ch 2; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch – 32 ch-sps at the end of this rnd.
Next Rnd: Ch 1, *2 sc in next ch-sp, sc in next dc; rep from * around, 2 sc in last ch-sp; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
STRAP
With A, ch 302.
Row 1: Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, *insert hook into the back loop of the next hdc and into the free loop of the foundation ch into which the hdc is worked, yarn over and draw loop through all loops on hook; rep from * across.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
FINISHING
Weave Strap through ch-sps around top of Bag. With tail, sew ends of Strap together. Weave in ends.
