GAUGE:
28 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) over Cable Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross) Sl 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front of work, k3, then k3 from cable needle.
PATTERN STITCH
K2, p2 Rib (multiple of 4 sts)
Row 1 (RS): *K2, p2; rep from * across.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K2, p2 Rib.
SCARF Cast on 56 sts.
Work in K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) from beg.
Next Row: Work in k2, p2 Rib to last 2 sts, p2tog – 55 sts at end of row.
Begin Cable Pattern
Row 1 (RS): K1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl, *p2, k6, p2, k1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl; rep from * across.
Row 2 and all WS rows: P1 tbl, k1, p1 tbl, *k2, p6, k2, p1 tbl, k1, p1 tbl; rep from * across.
Row 3: K1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl, *p2, 3/3 LC, p2, k1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl, rep from * across.
Rows 5 and 7: Rep Row 1.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures about 67 1/2 in. (171.5 cm) from beg, end with a Row 7.
