Island Shawl
Lion Brand® Cotton-Ease®
GAUGE: 18 sts + 19 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace Pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES: 1. Shawl is worked in one piece with a Garter st border on each of the 2 long sides. The Garter st border has been incorporated into the Lace Pattern.
2. The Lace Pattern used in this Shawl requires that you keep track of your sts and of which row you are working on. In Row 1, we will tell you where to place st markers with 3 border sts at the beg of the row, followed by 6 sets of 12 sts each (for the Lace Pattern) and 3 border sts at the end of the row. As you work each RS row, count your sts between markers. You should have 12 sts between the Lace Pattern markers on every row. If you do not have 12 sts, examine each st in your last rep and make any needed fixes (unravel st by st to make corrections) before continuing with the row.
3. Use a row counter to keep track of which rows of the 18-row Lace Pattern you have worked.
