Brilliant Colors Baby Throw

Lion Brand® Babysoft®

GAUGE:

12 dc + 9 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

To help keep Throw square, join yarn in a different corner each time color is changed.

COLOR SEQUENCE
Work 1 rnd with D, *3 rnds with A, 1 rnd with B, 1 rnd with C, 1 rnd with A, 1 rnd with D; rep from * for Color Sequence.


THROW
With D, ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 1, (3 dc in ring, ch 1) 3 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch – 12 dc and 4 ch-1 sps. Fasten off. Join A with sl st in any ch-1 sp.
Rnd 2: With A, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same ch-1 sp (first corner made), *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp (corner made); rep from * 2 more times; join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rnd 3: With A, sl st in each of next 2 dc, (sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in first ch-1 sp, *3 dc in sp between next 2 dc-groups, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp; rep from * 2 more times, 3 dc in sp between next 2 dc-groups; join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rnd 4: With A, sl st in each of next 2 dc, (sl st, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in first ch-1 sp, *(3 dc in sp between next 2 dc-groups) twice, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp; rep from * 2 more times, (3 dc in sp between next 2 dc-groups) twice; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Fasten off. Join B with sl st in any corner ch-1 sp.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in first ch-1 sp, *(3 dc in sp between next 2 dc-groups) across to next ch-1 sp, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 sp; rep from * 2 more times, (3 dc in sp between next 2 dc-groups) around; join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rep Rnd 5 and continue to change color following Color Sequence, until piece measures 40 x 40 in. (101.5 x 101.5 cm). Fasten off.

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

I have made eight of these throws form my grandchildren and great neices and nephews. It is a wonderful pattern and comes out looking different each time you vary the color choices. I make mine larger than the pattern, about 50X50, so the children can use them as toddlers. So easy and so beautiful! Terry, Dallas
