BLANKET
Cast on 88 stitches.
Knit 10 rows.
Begin working in pattern stitch as follows:
Row 1: Knit 4, *knit 10, purl 10; repeat from * to last 4 stitches, knit last 4 stitches.
Rows 2-12: Repeat Row 1.
Row 13: Knit 4, *purl 10, knit 10; repeat from * to last 4 stitches, knit last 4 stitches.
Rows 14-24: Repeat Row 13.
Repeat Rows 1-24 five more times.
Knit 10 rows.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
HAT
Cast on 80 stitches.
Work in Garter Stitch (knit every stitch on every row) until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beginning.
Bind off, leaving a long tail.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half and use long tail to sew the 8 in. (20.5 cm) sides together. Flatten Hat with seam at center back. Sew through both layers to join center front to center back at seam.
Bring center of each side in to meet at top of Hat and sew together. Four ‘teardrop’ openings will remain at top of Hat.
Weave in ends.
BOOTIES (make 2)
Cast on 26 stitches.
Work in Garter Stitch (knit every stitch on every row) until piece measures about 4 in. (10 cm) from beginning.
Toe
Next Row: *Knit next 2 stitches together, repeat from * across row - 13 stitches remain at end of row.
Knit 1 row.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail into large-eyed blunt needle, then thread needle through the remaining 13 stitches. Pull to gather stitches together and knot yarn to secure. With same yarn, sew open edges of Bootie together from toe to within 2 1/2 in. (6.5 cm) of opposite end of Bootie.
FINISHING
Sew remaining end of Bootie for back seam.
Weave in ends.
Laces
Cut an 18 in. (46 cm) strand of yarn. Thread strand into large-eyed blunt needle, and weave through open edge of Bootie, beginning and ending at toe. Repeat for second Bootie.
Tassels (make 4)
Wrap a strand of yarn around cardboard 10 times. Cut yarn leading from ball.
Cut a 4 in. (10 cm) length of yarn, slide under strands and one end of cardboard and tie tightly. Cut yarn strands at opposite end and remove cardboard.
Tie a tassel to each end of Laces.
