BACKPACK
With A, ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Work 8 sc in ring; join with sl st in first sc. Place marker for beg of rnd, move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc – 16 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, *sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 24 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 32 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, *sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 40 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, *sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 48 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, *sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 56 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, *sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 64 sc at end of rnd.
Rnd 9: Ch 1, *sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc – 72 sc at end of rnd.
Rnds 10-17: Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc. At end of Rnd 17, fasten off A.
Rnd 18: Join B with sl st in first sc, ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnds 19-25: With B, ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc. At end of Rnd 25, fasten off B.
Rnd 26: Join A with sl st in first sc, ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnds 27-30: With A, ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 31 (Eyelet Rnd): Ch 3, sk first 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc, *ch 2, sk next 2 sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * around; join with sl st in first ch of beg ch – 18 ch-2 sps at end of rnd.
Rnd 32: Ch 1, sc in each sc, working 2 sc in each ch-2 sp around – 72 sc at end of rnd.
Rnds 33 and 34: Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join with sl st in first sc.
Fasten off.
CORD
With A, ch 2; join with sl st in beg ch.
Work in a continuous spiral as follows: *work 1 sl st in next st; rep from * until Cord measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm). Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave Cord through eyelets of Rnd 31, and bring both Cord ends to RS. Pull Cord ends through, from RS to WS in space between sts, just below B stripe and in line with center point between Cords. Knot Cord ends securely on inside of Backpack.
Weave in ends.
