GAUGE:

14 sc + 18 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. LOVE this hat! I'm very much a beginner, self-taught crocheter. I made this hat for my daughter for her summer vacation at the beach. People thought..."a crochet hat, isn't that going to be hot?" Then they would see it and everyone thought it was awesome...especially my daughter. I made it with a tri-color cotton yarn (yellow purple,pink) yarn and I didn't do a band. I don't remember if I followed the pattern exactly (or lost count and just went with it LOL) but I would like to make it with a wider rim next. This is the only hat I've made for my daughter that actually fit her the way I wanted it too (they are usually too big)
