SIZE: 3-6 mos, Child 3-7, Adult Medium
Finished Circumference 16 (17, 19) in. (40.5 (43, 48.5 cm))

With A B ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Do not join at end of Rnds, work in continuous rnds.

GAUGE:

13 sc + 15 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Sc2tog (sc dec) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

HAT
With A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Do not join, work in continuous rnds.
Work 2 (2, 3) rnds even in sc.
Next Rnd: 2 sc in each st around – 10 sts at the end of this rnd.
Work 2 (2, 3) rnds even.
Next Rnd: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st; rep from * around – 15 sts.
Work 2 (2, 3) rnds even.
Next Rnd: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around – 20 sts.
Work 2 (2, 3) rnds even.
Next Rnd: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around – 25 sts,

All Sizes
Work even until piece measures about 10 1/2 (12 1/2, 16) in. (26.5 (32, 40.5 cm)) from beg. Change to B in last st.
Next Rnd: With B, and working through back loops only, sc in each st around.
Rep last rnd until piece measures about 15 1/2 (17 1/2, 22) in. (39.5 (44.5, 56 cm)) from beg. Fasten off.

CROCHET POM-POM
Small and Medium Sizes Only
With B, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed. Do not join at end of Rnds, work in continuous rnds.

Rnd 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts; rep from * around – 24 sts.
Rnd 5: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 6: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * around – 18 sts. Begin to stuff piece. Continue to stuff as work progresses.
Rnd 7: *Sc2tog, sc in next st; rep from * around – 12 sts.
Rnd 8: (Sc2tog) around – 6 sts. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull to gather.
Large Size Only
With B, ch 2.
Rnds 1-4: Work Rnds 1-4 of Small/Medium pom-pom – 24 sts.
Rnd 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts; rep from * around – 30 sts.
Rnd 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts; rep from * around – 36 sts.
Rnds 7-8: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 9: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts; rep from * around – 30 sts.
Rnd 10: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts; rep from * around – 24 sts. Begin to stuff piece. Continue to stuff as work progresses.
Rnd 11: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts; rep from * around – 18 sts.
Rnd 12: *Sc2tog, sc in next st; rep from * around – 12 sts.
Rnd 13: (Sc2tog) around – 6 sts. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through rem sts and pull to gather.

FINISHING
Tie pom-pom to Hat. Weave in ends.
