STITCH EXPLANATION:

sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.


LETTUCE
With larger hook and F, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 5 sc in first ch.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn, work 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st in beg st - 10 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: Rep Rnd 2 - 20 sts.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 24 sts.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 28 sts.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 32 sts.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 36 sts.

Rnd 7: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 7 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 45 sts.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 14 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 48 sts.
Rnd 9: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 15 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 51 sts.

Rnd 19: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 13 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 25 sts) twice, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 12 sts; join with sl st in beg st - 81 sts.
Rnd 20: Ch 1, turn, sc in each of next 13 sts, (2 sc in next st, sc in next 26 sts) twice, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 13 sts; join with sl st in beg st - 84 sts.
Rnds 21-23: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around; join with sl st in beg st.
With B threaded into large-eyed needle, embroider straight st 'seeds' on top of Bun.
Rnd 24: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 70 sts.
Rnd 25: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 56 sts.
Rnd 26: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 48 sts.
Rnd 27: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 14 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 45 sts.
Rnd 28: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 13 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 42 sts.
Rnd 29: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 35 sts.
Rnd 30: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 28 sts.
Stuff piece lightly.
Rnd 31: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog around - 14 sts.
Rnd 32: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around.
Rnd 33: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog around - 7 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long end. Weave end through last rnd, gather sts tightly tog and fasten off.

 

BOTTOM BUN
With smaller hook and A, ch 2.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 15 sts.
Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 3 to last st, sc in last st; join with sl st in beg st - 22 sts.
Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 3 - 33 sts.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around to last 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in each of last 2 sts; join with sl st in beg st - 40 sts.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from *around; join with sl st in beg st - 48 sts.
Rnd 8: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 56 sts.

Rnd 20: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 9 sts, rep from * around to last 10 sts, sc2tog, sc in each of next 8 sts; join with sl st in beg st - 79 sts.
Rnd 21: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 9 sts, rep from * around to last 2 sts, sc in each of last 2 sts; join with sl st in beg st - 72 sts.
Rnd 22: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 63 sts.
Rnd 23: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 54 sts.
Rnd 24: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 45 sts.
Rnd 25: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 36 sts.
Rnd 26: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 27 sts.
Rnd 26: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in next st, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 18 sts.
Stuff piece lightly.
Rnd 27: Sc2tog around. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Weave end through last rnd, gather sts tightly tog and fasten off.

 

Inner Tomato (make 2)
With smaller hook and B, ch 2.
Rnds 1-3: Work same as Rnds 1-3 of Lettuce - 20 sts at the end of Rnd 3.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 25 sts.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, turn, *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts; rep from * around, join with sl st in beg st - 30 sts.
Fasten off.

 

Outer Tomato (make 4)
Center

With smaller hook and C, ch 2.
Work 5 sc into first ch, join with sl st in beg st.
Fasten off and set aside.
Outside
With smaller hook and C, ch 63.
Being careful not to twist, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, turn, sc in each ch around; join with sl st in beg st - 63 sts.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 54 sts.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, turn, *sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around; join with sl st in beg st - 45 sts.
Rnd 4: Note: In Rnd 4 you are joining the Tomato center to the outside of Tomato by working chs from the outside to the center and then working sl sts along the chs.

 

*Sl st in next st (of outside), ch 8, sl st into any st of Tomato center then work 8 sl sts along the ch-8 (you are working away from the Tomato center), sl st in same st of Rnd 4 (to create a 'spoke' from Tomato center back to outside edge), sl st in each of next 8 sts of outside, rep from * around.
Fasten off.
Sandwich an Inner Tomato between 2 Outer Tomatoes.
With C, whip stitch 2 Outer Tomatoes tog around outside edge. Take a few sts through all layers to join centers to each side of Inner Tomato.

 

CHEESE
With smaller hook and D, ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each st across.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 5 in. (12.5 cm) from beg.
Fasten off.

 

FINISHING
Weave in ends.
