Spring Lace Shawl

Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice®

GAUGE:

7 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Lace st with 4 strands of yarn held tog. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

I'm in lust with this pattern! I'm using clover bamboo size 15 (10mm) needles and three strands of LBY Heartland in the Joshua Tree color way. I love how subtle the green is, and how soft the yarn is. I want to unwind it all and snuggle in it! Anyway, since I'm using less strands and smaller needles I increased my stitches to 49 (THANK YOU for telling us the pattern was worked on 16 sts +1). I read the pattern through twice and practiced the stitches first. Ive had no problems following it, although I have to keep it in front of me and my audiobook off so I don't lose my place. Garrison Keillor seems like the kind of guy who understands that knitting comes first. I've done nine rows and I love how this pattern is working up! Love the lace, love how the sk2p is affecting the weave, love the points on the end. I'm thinking if I hide from my family, I can finish this in two days. And really, what's more important in the grand scheme of things? Hot meals and clean underwear, or Mom wearing the most fantastic shawl ever to Boy Scouts on Thursday? Exactly! Treat yourself to this. You know you want to.
