GAUGE:
10 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in Shawl pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
SHAWL
Cast on 63 stitches.
Row 1: (Knit 3, purl 3) until the last 3 stitches, knit 3.
Row 2: (Purl 3, knit 3) until the last 3 stitches, purl 3.
Repeat these 2 rows until piece measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm). Bind off.
I love this pattern. I'm on my second. I only worked the first row. Right now I'm just doing a garter stitch pattern. Next I will knit the first inch or two, then knit 3, stokinette stitch, knit 3.
