Serene Comfort Shawl
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 8 half double crochet + 8 rows = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| Serene Comfort Shawl Reviewed by JoAnn Clark on 2011-10-07 |

This shawl is super easy and quick to make! I made the shawl for my cousin's daughter. I used Mixed Berries since her favorite colors are purple and pink. The entire thing came together in less than a week, working on it ~2 hrs/night on average. (My skill level is advanced beginner.)
Here are some notes that might be helpful for others:
1) I met the gauge with the hook size listed. It took ~125 rows to make the length listed in the pattern.
2) I needed 3 1/2 balls of yarn to make the length (good thing I bought 4 to be safe!).
3) I added ~2 1/2 inches of fringe to each end since I had some extra yarn. It added a little bit of a finishing touch that I thought it needed.
The pattern is so simple that it's great for working while you're doing something like watching tv at night. (For me, it was a great way to channel my nervous energy during my baseball team's playoff performances into a project worthwhile!)
